"Black-Mexican, Discriminating Tomato"

by beauty of wisdom
As times change, and years
pass technology moves us into better ways of doing things. We
are all overwhelmed and excited by the changes that have taken place
in many industries. But, the backdrop remains the same.
Racism!!!
As we entered July 2007
on the Eastern Shores of Virginia, and the summer cropping season
began, it is marked by the scenery of tomato trucks being repeatedly
stopped over and over, again on our highways. Mexican
migrant workers that speaks little or no English being pulled from
the truck and questioned, by our policemen, "just in case",
something may not be right.
Many years ago, the African
Americans were mostly responsible for cropping our red Tomato, for
the discriminating palettes of our nation. Low pay, and poor
working conditions, this was a job that had to be done. Today,
our Mexican brothers and sisters have the job of cropping our "now"
much smarter and sensible green tomato, for more pay, poor work
conditions and the mentality of much harassment from the very
palettes that require this crop.
Technology has given us a
better tomato, but the nations mentality has moved from one
discriminating race to another.
